2 yrs as a Section Chief, 2 yrs as ASAC, 2 yrs as Unit Chief, 2 yrs as field SSA, 2 yrs as HQ SSA. With so many times bouncing between the field and FBIHQ, how much time will this agent have actually working cases? 2 years!

Spot on. The whole promotional system results in inexperienced leadership. For example, let’s say an agent wants to retire in 20 years, and wants to retire as an AD. Assuming he spends 2 years at every position, he’ll change positions XX times: 2 yrs as AD, preceded by 2 years as SAC at a major FO, preceded by 2 years as a DAD, 2 yrs as a small office SAC, 2 yrs

I know of one Assistant Section Chief who spent less that 4 years as an Agent in the field. His lack of experience and incompetence was incredibly damaging to the mission of the Unit I was in.
